This month’s Celebrating Local spotlight is especially meaningful because we’re highlighting Sidney, the place where our story began and where our headquarters still stands today.
Sidney is a community shaped by resilience, pride, and progress. It’s a place where history isn’t left behind, it’s carried forward. From the people and partnerships that built its foundation to the spirit that continues to move it forward, Sidney represents the heart of who we are as an organization.
It was here, in 1949, that 15 pioneers came together with a shared belief: that when people support one another, stronger futures are possible. That belief still guides us today: not just in Sidney, but in every community we serve.
What to Expect During Sidney’s Celebrating Local Month
Throughout June, we’ll be celebrating Sidney in ways that bring the community together and highlight the connections that make it so special.
- Where’s Sprout? Scavenger Hunt: Our mascot, Sprout, is back and ready to explore! Each week, Sprout will be hiding at different local spots around Sidney. Follow along on social media for clues, find Sprout, and stop by the branch to share where you spotted him.
- Flat Sprout Coloring Activity: We’re inviting kids (and kids at heart!) to join the celebration with Flat Sprout coloring sheets. Take one home, get creative, and add your own personal touch to this month’s fun.
- Sidney Open House (Date Coming Soon!): We’ll be hosting a special Sidney Open House later this month and you’re invited to come mingle with our staff and other Sidney neighbors. Stay tuned for more details, including the date and theme!
- Community Spotlights & Local Stories: All month long, we’ll be highlighting what makes Sidney unique: from local businesses and organizations to the people and traditions that continue to shape this community.
