Frequently Asked Questions

  • Credit Score, available through SFCU Online and Mobile Banking, provides tools to help you set credit goals, track your progress, and work toward a higher credit score.

With Credit Score, you can establish a target credit score and receive personalized recommendations based on your credit profile. The tool tracks your progress over time and notifies you when you reach key milestones, helping you stay focused on your financial goals.

Whether you’re preparing to buy a home, finance a vehicle, qualify for a loan, rent an apartment, or strengthen your overall creditworthiness, Credit Score can help you understand the steps that may improve your credit health.

As part of Credit Score, you also have access to:

    • Personalized Credit Report
    • Real-Time Credit Monitoring Alerts
    • Score Simulator
    • Action Plan with personalized recommendations
    • Credit Score Education resources

Credit Score is available at no cost to SFCU members. You can view and refresh your credit score and credit report information daily without affecting your credit score.

  • The Score Simulator within Credit Score, available through SFCU Online and Mobile Banking, allows you to estimate how different financial decisions may affect your credit score.

Using the Score Simulator, you can explore a variety of scenarios, such as taking out a new loan, paying off an existing loan, reducing credit card balances, or opening a new credit account. Based on your credit profile, the tool generates an estimated credit score range to help you understand the potential impact of these actions.

The Score Simulator is designed to help you make informed financial decisions by providing insight into how changes to your credit and debt may affect your overall credit health. While the results are estimates and not guarantees, they can help you better understand your potential eligibility for loans, credit cards, and other credit products.

  • An updated score will display every 7-days. Users can also click ‘refresh score’ every 24 hours.

  • If you believe information displayed in the Credit Score tool within SFCU online or mobile Banking is inaccurate, you can submit a dispute directly through the tool. To start the process, access your credit report within Credit Score and select the “Dispute” link next to the item you believe is incorrect. The dispute will be submitted to the appropriate credit bureau for review.

Credit bureaus are responsible for investigating disputed information and making any necessary corrections to your credit report.

  • No. Enrolling in or accessing the Credit Score tool within SFCU online or mobile banking does not affect your credit score.

The Credit Score tool uses a soft inquiry to provide your credit score and credit monitoring information. Soft inquiries do not impact your credit score and are not visible to lenders reviewing credit applications.

You can check your credit score, review your credit report information, and use the Credit Score features in online banking as often as you like without lowering your score.

  • No. SFCU does not use the SavvyMoney Credit Score displayed in online banking when making loan decisions.

The credit score provided through SavvyMoney is an educational tool designed to help members monitor and understand their credit health. When reviewing a loan application, SFCU uses its own lending criteria and underwriting process to evaluate eligibility and make a final credit decision.

Because the SavvyMoney Credit Score is not part of SFCU’s lending review process, the score you see in online banking may differ from the information and criteria used during a loan application review. SFCU evaluates loan applications using multiple factors, including credit score, debt-to-income ratio, payment history, and other lending criteria established as part of the loan approval process.
