All Edge branches will remain open. We have 13 branch locations and our members can use Shared Service Centers offering 5000+ locations throughout the US. There are over 10 Shared Service Centers in the Syracuse area alone. Plus, you will have access to other locations when traveling. As an added bonus, SFCU is building a branch in Cicero.


How can I stay informed of all the updates?

Keep your phone number, email address, mailing and street address are up-to-date so you receive information promptly. Also, save this page to your favorites. We will be making updates and adding additional resources throughout the process to keep the transition as smooth as possible!

Direct Deposit, Payroll & Other Electronic Transactions FAQs

  • We ask that this information be updated at your earliest convenience. Direct Deposits will automatically be routed to SFCU as we make this transition. You will be provided documentation with your new account number along with specific communication on the steps to take to update your Direct Deposit. If you add new direct deposits after 10/1 use only your SFCU information.

  • All existing payroll distributions will carry over.

  • The SFCU routing number is 221379905

  • We ask that this information be updated at your earliest convenience. These transactions will automatically be routed to SFCU as we make this transition. If your account number has changed we ask that you provide the update at your earliest convenience. You will be provided documentation with your new account number along with specific communication on the steps to take to update your automatic payment(s). As you add new automatic payments after 10/1 use only your SFCU information.

General FAQs

    • Convenience: All Edge branch locations remain open. The existing student run branches and ATMs will also continue to be available. You will have access to a total of 13 locations. Plus, a new branch is slated to open near the end of 2023 in Cicero, NY.
    • Member Service: You will continue to receive the friendly and professional service from the same staff you know and trust, while also benefiting from expanded product & service offerings.
    • Technology: Improved technology through the latest offerings in online and mobile banking. Ability to Chat with a live rep while visiting The option to communicate via video is also available!
    • Competitive rates and lower fees: By taking advantage of economies of scale, we will be able to pass those savings along to you, the members, with competitive rates and lower fees.
    • Employee Opportunities: All employees will be retained, and employees will benefit from greater career growth opportunities, training resources, and competitive employee benefits as part of a larger organization.
  • Sidney FCU (SFCU) will experience no name change. The name Edge FCU will transition to SFCU.

  • We have done our best to keep all member numbers the same.  Unless you are notified by email, your account number will remain the same at SFCU as it was at Edge FCU.

  • SFCU is proud to say we do everything we can to eliminate or keep our fees as low as possible. You will find many of the services you may be currently paying for are FREE with your SFCU membership. You can find a detailed Service Fee Schedule here.

  • If you are a member of Edge FCU, please make sure Edge FCU has your most up-to-date contact information – ie. mailing address, email & phone number(s).  As our team works to integrate systems, we will communicate about any changes before they occur.  Please watch your mail, email, and for updates.

  • SFCU will be providing new checks free of charge to Edge FCU members. If you ordered Edge FCU checks anytime after January 2023 (or if your account number is changing) new checks will automatically be sent to you. If you do not receive new SFCU checks, and would like to order some, you may stop in or call us at 877-642-7328 and we will order them for you at NO CHARGE.

    Your Edge FCU checks will still continue to work (as long as your account number has not changed), however we encourage you to discontinue the use of those checks.

    If you would like to bring in your old Edge FCU checks, we would be happy to confidentially dispose of them for you. If you order checks from a vendor outside of the credit union please make sure  you update the routing number and MICR line to reflect your new SFCU account information.

  • Your SOS Club will transfer over to SFCU as an additional savings/club account. The only change is related to distributions in the form of a check. If you previously received checks from your SOS Club, an SFCU representative will be reaching out to provide options and set up the distribution method that will work best for you.

  • Credit Unions differ from banks in that all members have equal ownership. Two credit unions combining to share resources to better serve member financial needs is very different than a bank buyout. In the instance that a credit union with a higher net worth merges into a credit union with a lower net worth, there may be a special dividend paid out to the membership of the dissolving credit union to equalize the member-owner value in the combined credit union. In the case of SFCU and Edge, SFCU carries a higher net worth than Edge and therefore a special dividend will not be paid.

  • Your accounts will continue to be federally insured just as they are today through the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund, which is backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government and managed by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA).

  • SFCU is excited to welcome our newest team members! The merger between Edge FCU and SFCU will allow for greater employee growth opportunities, training resources and competitive employee benefits as part of a larger organization.

  • If you are a member of Sidney, we anticipate no disruption in service or changes to your accounts or services. We look forward to the opportunity to add the additional locations and resources to support our members.

Locations & Hours FAQs

  • We plan to keep all branches operating as usual. Members will likely see the same familiar faces when visiting a branch location.

  • Yes, after 10/01/2023, the hours of operation will be the following:

    Lobby Hours:

    Monday – Friday: 9:00am – 4:30pm

    Drive Thru:

    Monday – Friday: 8:30am – 5:00pm


  • Yes you will have access to over 5,000+ shared branches nationwide. Please note that after 10/01/2023, you will need to identify yourself as an SFCU member when conducting service center transactions.

Loan FAQs

  • Yes, the merger with SFCU brings an increase of additional loan officers and technology.  We strive to provide loan decisions as quickly as possible (most within 24 business hours) with many approvals received instantly.

Credit and/or Debit Cards FAQs

  • Yes, if you are a current Edge FCU Visa® credit card and/or debit card holder,  you will receive a new SFCU Mastercard® credit card and/or debit card. In the meantime, make sure your contact information, including mailing address is up-to-date.

Online FAQs

  • Yes, you will need to register to access your account online banking and download the SFCU mobile app to view your accounts. Learn more about all the features of SFCU’s online/mobile banking here.

  • Yes, if your current username and password meets the SFCU system requirements and is available.  Usernames can be between 8-15 characters and be alpha/numeric, but no symbols. Passwords must be between 8 and 16 alpha numeric characters. A minimum of 1 upper case and one lower case alpha character and 1 numeric character is required.

    Please note:

    Your username/password will not automatically transfer to SFCU’s online banking system. You will still need to register to access SFCU online banking to view your accounts.

  • To register, you need to identify yourself by providing:

    1. Your SFCU member account number
    2. Social Security Number
    3. Date of Birth
    4. Email address

    A One Time Passcode (OTP) will be sent to the mobile number on file and you will enter that code when prompted. Please note a mobile number MUST be on file with your account in order to receive a security code and complete enrollment. If you do not receive, a secure access code upon first attempting to log in, your contact information on file may be incorrect. Please contact us to update this information at 877-642-7328 or use the secure chat feature.

  • Yes, each owner on the account will be able to setup their own username and password.  A joint owner will follow the same instructions to enroll in online banking as the primary member, but use their own social security number when enrolling.

  • Yes, after 10/01/2023 , you will be able to enroll as a new user to access your account online. We also encourage you to download our mobile app. Both online and mobile access allow you to handle your finances on any device, anytime and anywhere.

  • After the merger is finalized, you will not see past account history through online banking. However, all members will receive a final paper statement in the mail from your Edge FCU account. After the merger is finalized, if you need a print out of your statement or history for specific dates, please contact our Contact Center (877-642-7328) or

  • Yes.  Once you have registered for online banking you can enroll in E-Statements.  Simply click on ‘Account Services’ and then choose ‘eDocs’ to start the enrollment process.
