What is early direct deposit and how does it work?
Early direct deposit allows you to receive your paycheck up to 5 business days* before your scheduled payday, depending on when your employer submits the payroll file to us.
What types of deposits are eligible for early direct deposit?
Eligible payments include payroll, tax refunds, government benefits, pension, and more.
Do I need to sign up separately for early direct deposit?
No. If you already have direct deposit coming to SFCU, you’ll automatically receive your funds early (when available).
How soon after opening an account can I receive an early direct deposit?
As soon as your account is active and direct deposit is set up, you’re eligible to receive early deposits.
Is there a fee for using early direct deposit?
No, this is a free service provided to all members.
Will I always receive my paycheck early?
We will release your funds as soon as we receive the deposit information. Timing depends on when your employer or benefits provider sends the file.
Is early direct deposit guaranteed every pay period?
No. While we aim to provide early access, it depends on when your payroll provider submits the information.
How can I confirm that I received my deposit early?
Check your balance or transaction history online or mobile banking, call us at 877-642-7328, chat with us at sfcuonline.org or stop by your local branch.
What happens if my early deposit is delayed?
If you’re expecting a direct deposit but haven’t seen it in your account, reach out to your payroll provider to see when they processed it. Direct deposits go through a few steps between the payment provider and the destination checking account. If your employer has processed the paycheck but it’s not in your SFCU account, it’s still going through these steps. Don’t stress: SFCU will deposit the funds as soon as they’re available.
Do holidays or weekends affect early direct deposit timing?
Yes. If payday falls on a holiday or weekend, you might receive your deposit even earlier — based on file submission.
Is early direct deposit safe and secure?
Yes. It uses the same secure ACH processing system as a standard direct deposit.
